This Summer Anime Film ‘Josee, the Tiger and the Fish’ Debuts in Japan


On Friday the authorized website of the anime movie of short story Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi by Seiko Tanabe that this summer the movie will release in Japan. The website also disclosed a new visual art by Nao Emoto.

The anime is being directed by Kotaro Tamura. The original designs of characters were illustrated by Nao Emoto and those characters are being designed for animation by Haruko Iizuka and he is also the main director of animation. The script is being penned by Sayaka Kuwamura. For the design of concept loundraw is credited. The music is being composed by Evan Call. The movie will be distributed by Shochiku and Kadokawa.

The story focuses on the connection among Tsuneo and Josee. Tsuneo is a college understudy, and Josee is a little youngster who has once in a while left the house independent from anyone else because of her being unable to walk. The two meet when Tsuneo discovers Josee’s grandma taking her out for a morning walk.

On January 6 the manga version based by the movie will premiere in the February issue of Kadokawa’s Da Vinci magazine. The manga is being illustrated by Emoto. On Friday the website of the movie also showed three pages of the manga.

In the 1985 mini story compilation of the similar name the original story was issued by Tanabe. In 2003 a live action movie was made based by the story.
