Somali to Mori no Kamisama: Episode 8

With the help of Praline and the map of library, Somali and Golem search for the librarian to know about the Chronicles of Haraiso, and they get to know things we didn’t expect.

We are introduced to a new character, Feodora who is a teenage witch and is caught up in an accident while heading home in her village. The strong wind blew away her broom and she ended up in an island where humans live. The interesting part is that alongside those humans, lives a golem, called Haraiso. Those humans treat him as God and are devoted to him as he was not evil and let them live peacefully on that island. Although it doesn’t make sense how they could believe him as any creature like that or Grotesques are harmful to them but probably it was the best thing to do for their survival at that time.

There is always two sides of the story and till now we only heard about the brutality of the Grotesques but this episode gave us the other side of the story and it’s truly hard to say who is right or wrong or who should we pity more. It’s always not possible to take a side in situation like these. The story we have been hearing about the suffering of humans, we felt truly sorry especially when we get to see that happening as Haitora told everything in detail. But this time we get to see the other side of the story in which we witnessed the atrocities of humans, when the villagers soon acted differently on hearing Feodora calling them other species. We witnessed the terrible side of the humans and it is very awful. It does sound rude when Haraiso called humans coward but if we look back in our history, we notice that we really can’t deny that.  We have been killing each other for the past thousand years on the basis of various reasons particularly because of the differences like cast, religion, gender and many more. It’s something that will probably never end. Humans are coward of things they can’t understand and in reaction to that fear they act violently causing brutal actions out of anger. There are several examples and can be seen in the history of humans of any country, religion or ethnicity.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama: Episode 8

The sad part is that the dog with two heads was not a bad creature and imprisoned for no reason. No harm was done when Feodor and Miya returned home to their village. No one died or even injured. The harmless dog was captured and cried for help but the humans killed it. It was brutal and inhuman.

The story of Feodora was intriguing. She blamed herself for the death of human, but it wasn’t really her fault and it was something that had to happen. Feodora was injured and so lived with humans for a while so that she can leave when she is recovered. The time she spent with humans, she came close to them and befriended Miya. She lived there peacefully without worrying about anything as they also adored her. But that changed when her powers were exposed while saving Miya. Their behaviors towards her changed and they started to look at her with hatred and anger. The same humans who treated her with love started to hate her. Hey screamed at her and planned to kill her despite of being pardoned by Haraiso for rescuing Miya. It is so ridiculous to see how the attitude of people changes so quickly on merely a little girl. At point they love her and at other point they try to kill her. But, no wonder humans are like that if we look around the real world. Humans change very quickly. Unfortunately, Humans are truly awful. But Miya didn’t change and supported her and perhaps that didn’t change till they live.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama: Episode 8

The head of librarian guide Golem about where should he go next along with Somali in search of humans and after talking with Somali with a calm look she dies. It was heartwarming scene, sort of tragic but felt real. It’s not about which side to take or not being afraid but, it’s about living in peace with each other regardless of any kind of differences. If everyone could understand that, life in this world would have been very peaceful.

I do feel there should have been more scenes of Haraiso so that we could know more about his views but since he is Golem then it doesn’t matter as he doesn’t have any emotions. Bu humans are not trustworthy beings. One thing that I’ve been wondering in this series is that Somali is really a human? It feels like she isn’t a complete human. Many people have mentioned this that she doesn’t look like the humans we have seen in this series, be it Haitora or the humans we witnessed in the flashbacks. The color of her eyes is not something we have seen in humans and there is also some green strips in her hair. Probably that’s just her character design in order to make her look cute little girl but it could be true.

In the next episode we will get to see some flashback scenes of Somali and Golem when they newly met. I’m excited to see that as we didn’t get to see the beginning of their relationship or how they interacted those days. But, that won’t make any big of a difference in the story as their relationship has been portrayed beautifully.
