Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 4: Review

It’s just episode 4 and yet we are getting so emotional So far, we can predict two endings for this series. Either Golem will find humans for Somali and leave her forever or he will not be able to do that and she will live with him till he dies. There is no way we are going to get a happy ending and the promise he made is meant to be broken either way. We know how it will end but still the series doesn’t stop being so emotional for us and we can’t help but cry. It’s probably going to do the same, what happened in plastic memories. We all knew how it would end but still we can’t stopped ourselves from crying when we reached the climax.

I thought that Muthrica will turn out to be harmful but I was wrong and he thankfully he is not bad guy. He seems scary and cruel but it makes sense why his appearance is like that. He works in the underground so he should look like that as one of his duties is to not let any regular person go down there alone. The children were alone and wandering there without them so he had to follow them as part of his job. Things get even less scary when we find out that Muthrica is actually Kikila’s master. Unfortunately, the flower that Somali took from the field, faded soon and Muthrica that flower lives according to the size of its tree and the one she picked grew on a small tree. Somali is determined to look for bigger tree to get another flower that would live longer. Muthrica agrees to help and walk them towards the big tree in the underground.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 4: Review

There was some action packed moment when a monster appeared in the underground but I was rather a cute scene as the kids were very courageous. The innocent Somali talked to the monster in a cute way and the monster seemed to calm down as the monster was a mother with some babies. Somali found her flower and got out of the underground safely with it. But sadly, it was too late and dark when they came back from the underground and this led to Golem being angry which made Somali cry.

The rest of the episode was great in terms of the relationship of Golem and Somali. Golem has just started to learn how emotions work and he had some bad experience when it comes to emotions. It’s just Somali through whom he keeps learning them. Although he meets others as well who teach him or give him some advice like Muthrica. Golem learned through Muthrica about the importance of the flower and the will power of Somali to get it for the fulfillment of her wish on which the owner of the restaurant said some really good words being a father. He said that it’s impossible to be a perfect parent. It’s common to make mistakes and it often happens that one can get very angry and forget about other’s emotions which can also led to sadness and tears, but these mistakes teach us that can be used to make child know that we as parent made mistake and let them know that their parents love them through both words and deeds. It’s important for them to know this and it make them closer to their parents. It was the best advice that Golem had been give so far and it even made him a little emotional. Muthrica added by saying that parents should not induce fear in their children and that’s exactly what Golem needed to hear. When Somali got sick, he became anxious and terrified. He rushed out in the dark in search of medicines for her and spent all the money he earned. This shows how much he loves her without even knowing about it. The line that made me so emotional and almost tearful was ‘there is no replacement for you’. It was hard to control the emotions at that moment. Those beautiful words of Golem that made Somali cry. Golem made promise to stay by her side always.

It’s so ad that the promise has to be broken one day and he can’t deny that. But it made Somali content. This lie is very important as it signifies, he has an emotional place. It brings back smile on Somali’s innocent face and she is relieved. That’s all he wants for Somali even if it takes a lie to make it happen. Although this lie is going to be very ugly in the future and we should get ready for that.

This episode was really good and very emotional. The relationship of Somali and Golem progressed beautifully and we can also see some development in Golem’s character. He admits his mistake and apologize with whole heartedly and now he is more kind towards Somali not just for the sake of his task but for love. He has developed a lot in this episode but it ends with the sad reminder that he is running out of time. This series is going to be a tear jerker.
