Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 1: Review

This season starts with a very heartwarming story. For certain reason, it seemed quite different to me. I really like family shows especially if there is something different about it. I find it interesting to see many characters interacting with each other in a nice environment and getting close as the plot moves forward. In addition to the family theme, the animation and the visuals are wonderful. The music is also very nice. The best thing about the show is the adorable Somali. Cuteness is overloaded in this anime.

There was not anything very special about the episode. It was quite simple but was good enough for the introduction episode. The episode starts with Golem wandering in the forest where we learn that Golem’s job is to look after the forest till the time he gets back to the earth. The task is not problematic until he encounters a little girl who happens to be human and refers to him as dad. From this point the story starts.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 1: Review

Somali is extremely adorable. I can never understand why people criticize kids in of anime. They say that they are annoying. Well I say they are kids and that’s how kids are. Somali is a little girl and so she is a little irritating as she roams around the forest alone but children has to understand that it is not good for them. But, that’s how the kids are, they keep asking about silly things, they are noisy and Somali has all those traits. She is just a child and Golem has just started to learn to be father so he is trying to understand this child nature. The hilarious part is when Golem introduces this child to others telling them she belongs to Minotaur race as there are also horns on her hood. He knows that she could be in danger if she is exposed as a human. One thing that I find as a flaw was the discussion about the human race all of a sudden. The discussion seemed forced when a bar patron started questioning about the human race (as he is the only one who doesn’t know) to a waitress and she responds to it by explaining that. She tells that both humans and the non-human race were living together without knowing about each other. But when a human came, problems started to occur and between both races which led to war. It seems like the humans were killed or devoured by the creatures. While some were enslaved. There was one creature who thought about petting a human which was truly disgusting. According to Golem, he wants to meet more humans, which makes sense as he wants Somali to be with her people.

From that point onwards the episode was quite plain. We witness Golem and Somail roaming around and getting along. The character of Golem is intriguing as the way he speaks is different. I did not expect him to say yare yare when Somali left him and run away from him. He seems like a robot as he behaves and talks like that, making Somali believes that he does not have feelings but it looks like he does have feelings as he seemed a little scary when they were in inn as Somali could have been exposed. He also expressed emotions when he she calls him dad. There is a chance that he will change gradually. As of now, it is quite hilarious how he is annoyed by the noisy kid. Their scenes together are very heartwarming and cute.

Somali to Mori no Kamisama Episode 1: Review

The encounter in the forest raised two questions. Number one, if all humans are dead then how is Somali alive. Obviously there are more humans. What happened to her parents? Number two, Golem. Guarding the forest was his only task then how is roaming other places with Somali. Aren’t there any consequences that he will have to face for not doing his job? I think it will also damage the forest. I also noticed a wound on Golem’s arm. Somehow, it feels like he is connected with the forest and probably being away from the forest is dangerous for him as well as the forest. I’m worries about that.

The episode was very fascinating and I’m willing to watch the anime as the plot seems interesting. There is nothing to complain about so far. Can’t say anything about guaranteed reviews throughout the season as it seems to go long and air at the same day as many other good shows. But let’s see, this may turns out to be the best of them all.
