The official website for the television anime adaptation of Yuri Kitayama and Riv’s Seirei Gensouki – Spirit Chronicles light novels has revealed exciting updates for the show’s second season. Fans can look forward to new cast members, a striking key visual, and the announcement of theme song artists for the upcoming season.

New Cast Members

The second season introduces several new characters to the series. Ayahi Takagaki will voice Aria Govemess, and Haruka Tomatsu will voice Satsuki Sumeragi. Returning characters include Seirō Ogino as Gustave Huguenot and Kōsuke Toriumi as Lucius Orgueille. These additions promise to bring fresh dynamics and exciting interactions to the series.

Theme Songs

The second season’s opening theme song, “Auftakt,” will be performed by Aguri Ōnishi, while the ending theme song, “Shuntaika,” will be performed by Nanaka Suwa. These talented artists are expected to bring a vibrant and emotional soundtrack to the anime, enhancing the viewing experience for fans.

Returning and New Staff

The second season of Seirei Gensouki – Spirit Chronicles will debut in October, with a talented team of returning and new staff members. Hiroshi Kubo is directing the second season, and Osamu Yamasaki, who directed the first anime season at TMS Entertainment, will supervise. Yamasaki is also penning the scripts alongside Mitsutaka Hirota, Megumu Sasano, and Yoshiko Nakamura. Kyoko Yufu returns as character designer, ensuring visual continuity with the first season.

Scott McDonald joins the team as the new art director, while Tomoko Kohioki returns as the color key artist. Norimasa Teramoto continues as the compositing director of photography, with Keisuke Yanagi returning as editor. Yasuyuki Yamazaki is back to compose the music, with Nippon Columbia and TMS Music producing. Hiroto Morishita returns as the sound director, with Yōko Sakurai now handling sound effects. KANON is responsible for sound production.

Plot and Previous Releases

The first season of Seirei Gensouki – Spirit Chronicles premiered in Japan on the TV Tokyo channel in July 2021. It also aired on BS Fuji and AT-X, and streamed on ABEMA and other services. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, bringing the series to an international audience.

J-Novel Club is releasing both the novels and Futago Minaduki’s manga adaptation. The story follows Rio, an orphaned boy living in the slums who realizes he is the reincarnation of Haruto Amakawa, a Japanese university student with a tragic past. Rio discovers his potent magical abilities and uses them to solve a kidnapping case, leading to his enrollment in a prestigious academy for noble children.

Yuri Kitayama began serializing the story on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” (Let’s Become Novelists) website in February 2014. Hobby Japan started publishing the print version of the novels with illustrations by Riv in 2015. Futago Minaduki launched the manga adaptation in 2017, expanding the story to a new medium.
