Chapter 38 of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den was full of drama and it’s good that in this action packed manga we get to see some drama. The conflicts between Goku and Hachimaru didn’t end as Hachimaru hated Goku for getting close to Ann. Hachimaru shows off to prove he is a worthy samurai and dare him to battle with him that he immediately lost as according to Daruma, he did not far-sighted his true opponent. Ann supported him by curing him but was so irritated that he take out all his anger on the princess. This started all the dramatic problems between Hachimaru and Ann.
In the entire chapter we saw Hachimaru keeping his distance with Ann due to being upset with her and Ann avoided him too. Goku kept showing off his skills and his abilities that ignited Hachimaru’s anger. While they were on the ship and meeting with others, they realized that they have to talk to each other before it’s too late.
They both gather in the lobby of the ship and that’s when they both got emotional. Hachimaru said sorry even though he knew that Goku is the one to be blamed for all these tensions that occurred between them but Ann clears his misunderstanding and tells him the real reason for the differences. Ann adores Hachimaru but does not like him to just see her as a princess. She wants him to understand her and look at her the way her brother used to see her. Samurai couldn’t comprehend it and the chapter ends at this point leaving us all curious. Does that mean that Ann sees Hachimaru as a brother? Or there is another meaning to this? We’ll know in the next chapter but till then let’s dig a deeper into this chapter 38 of Samurai 8: Hachimaru Den.
Hachimaru’s hatred for Goku is not kept hidden from anyone — since he evidently has everything that Hachimaru lacks — so the battle between these two was expected. It was a thrilling battle but ended very quickly with Hachimaru losing very easily. Hachimaru needs to understand that he can’t challenge him on fighting him when his skills are better than him or else it’s not just the fight that he will lose.
This chapter conclude with a profound discussion between Ann and Hachimaru but we came to realize that Ann has a lot to talk about. Ann, seemingly, wants to be seen differently rather than just a princess and confesses her likeness for Hachimaru. But we are still not sure what she really meant by liking him. Does she love her as a man or a brother?
Chapter 38 of Hachimaru Den was drama focused chapter and it felt a little different from previous chapters. Is their relationship going to be a romantic one or it will turn out to be something else? Probably they will be just friends. His chapter was surely an epic one with all the tensions, confessions and a brief fight scene. The last panel was a cliffhanger and now we are excited to see how it will continue in the next chapter.
