Runway de Waratte Episode 1 – Review

As expected Runway de Waratte didn’t disappoint and actually made me fall in love with it. Although I have no idea about the entire story as I haven’t read manga and will not read it and I’m enjoying the anime and I don’t want to spoil that. I was excited about this anime since the first PV was revealed and have been waiting for this episode ever since. Everything about this anime was appealing including the animation, character design and the plot.

The first episode was on point. The character development in just a 24 minutes episode was incredible and it made me love all the main characters and admire their career goals. We have seen these kind of characters before but still they seem completely different and it makes me more excited about this anime as I root for them. This not so typical underdog story of starting from the ground while aiming to reach the sky is refreshing and amusing. I’m looking forward to their journey

Let’s discuss more about that attracted me the most in this anime, characters. Chiyuki is a very interesting character. She does not hesitate to express her feelings and very confident about things she does. She is stubborn but knows what’s right for her and determined to achieve her goals. Although her height remained the same since she was in 4th grade but she is not going to let that be an obstacle in her path. She is quite self-obsessed but does not have any intention of degrading or pushing others away to be the best. That’s something admirable. She seems the kind of a person who wants to get to the top on her own.

I loved Tsumara. I really want him and his family to be happy. He realizes in this episode that good dresses make people happy and that’s what makes him happy. I had the impression that he is going to be one of those characters who lacks confidence and I thought that most of the part of the anime would be about him getting confidence gradually. But, Tsumara is not that kind of character and I enjoy watching the characters who know what they want and keep struggling no matter what happens. I’m excited to see more of both of them. They admire each other.

Apart of the characters and their story, the soundtrack was also great. I didn’t notice it while watching it as I was too much busy enjoying the characters but I’m happy that I watched it twice. I would recommend all those people who missed the soundtrack should watch it again. I’m glad that it is not just about Chiyuki but both the characters as implied in the end. I hope that it remains the same till the end as I am interested to watch the journey of both of them.

I’m looking forward to the next episode and see how their journey in the fashion world. It looks like the anime filled with many emotions and I’m certainly ready for that.
