It has been recently announced through Jump SQ Magazine in June issue that Prince of Tennis will be releasing new anime in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the original anime series. It was revealed by the series creator Takeshi Konomi with a new illustration.
The new anime will be titled Shin Tennis no Ouji-sama: Hyoutei vs Rikkai – Game of Future (The New Prince of Tennis: Hyoutei vs Rikkai – Game of Future) and will follow the original plot focused on the intense match between Rikkai University – Affiliated Middle School and Hyoutei Academy Secondary Department. The team of Hyoutei Academy will be headed by Keigo Atobe and while Seiichi Yukimura. Will be leading the other team.
The new anime will be completely original as it is not even in the manga. The anime will be directed by Keiichirou Kawaguchi who has directed the original Prince of Tennis. Mitsutaka Hirota will focusing on script writing ehile the character design will be handled by Akiharu Ishii. The new project will be under supervision of Konomi which is even more exciting.
