My Hero Academia Season 7
Overview
My Hero Academia Season 7 has been released, and while it has its peaks and valleys, it is a solid season that excels in world-building and character development. The series creator Kohei Horikoshi wrote a universe that many fans enjoy watching, but the pacing of the anime can be a challenge. The main hero and villain are facing each other, and the story tries to give side characters a final “hoorah!” before it all ends.
The anime does its best to make the source material better, with Gentle Criminal and Lady Nagant joining the fight being much better in the anime than in the manga. The voice cast and music brought life to these moments, but the writing scope limits the ability to be faithful to the source material. Some fans were more interested in Shoji’s fight against Spinner and the heteromorphs, and the vitriol All For One was spewing at certain points.
Despite these issues, My Hero Academia Season 7 belongs in the conversation with other great seasons such as 3, 4, and 6. Its valleys weren’t as drastic as its peaks, and the production team’s efforts to make the series as best as possible were evident. Overall, it was another solid season, with some fans coming around at the end because they couldn’t resist the bang it needed to end.
However, the original script doesn’t live up to the standard, and if the original script doesn’t live up to the standard, it puts a cap on how great a series can possibly be. Fortunately, the staff and cast went above and beyond to deliver a memorable season for one of the best battle-action anime of the past decade.
Production
The production of My Hero Academia Season 7 was impressive, with some scenes looking incredible and others feeling flat. Naomi Nakayama, the season’s director, handled the task with great skill and cinematic shots. The anime production spiked when it mattered most, with thrilling moments like the Todoroki family, Ochako and Toga, All Might and All For One, and Deku and Shigaraki. The voice cast and music brought life to these moments.
However, the writing was more focused on faithfulness to the source material, with some characters being more important than others. The voice cast and music brought life to some moments, but the writing also took away from the most important fights. The author found themselves having a “what’s next on the agenda for today” attitude after watching a few episodes, which may not be the best representation of the series.
