Outlaw Star

Outlaw Star

Outlaw Star is situated in the imagined “Towards Stars Era” (Tseireki) cosmos. In history, an asteroid bearing the substance “Dragonite” smashed in northern China’s made-up Arashon desert. Researchers discovered that the Dragonite had characteristics of “ether,” an energy source that would enable spaceships to travel faster than the speed of light and so quickly cover vast distances in the cosmos. Pirates, assassins, and outlaws started to pose a menace to humanity’s new frontier as new colonies were established throughout the wide regions of space.

The animated television series and manga series of Outlaw Star have different pacing. Gene and his companions frequently take on various occupations or missions in the anime episodes to help pay for the enormous maintenance requirements of their ship.

The crew frequently runs into Ronald and Harry MacDougall, the bounty hunters in charge of killing Gene’s father, as they travel. Harry wants to bond with Melfina, a bio-android like himself, but she instead feels strongly about Gene, while Ronald serves as Gene’s opponent.
