A world filled with both humans and demons is the setting of the enduringly popular anime series Inuyasha. The plot centres on Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old schoolgirl who accidentally falls into a well at her family shrine and is transported to the Sengoku period of Japan. She meets Inuyasha, a half-dog, half-demon during her stay there.
After falling into a well at her family shrine, Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old middle school student from modern-day Tokyo, is sent to the Sengoku era, where she meets the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha. When Kagome’s body’s precious Shikon Jewel reemerges from the depths, she unintentionally breaks it into dozens of pieces, which then scatter over Japan.
The lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo join Inuyasha and Kagome in their mission to find the Jewel’s fragments. They set off on a joint journey to recover the Shikon Jewel before Naraku, the evil half-demon, obtains it.
