On Friday it was declared by NHK that on March 2 a series of anime shorts are going to debut based on the essay manga Oya-san to Boku by Tarō Yabe on NHK at sharp 11:45 p.m. The anime is going to broadcast for five successive nights and each of the episode’s length will be give minutes long.
The theme song is going to be present by Akiko Yano. The shorts are being directed at Fanworks by Hazumu Sakuta and the scripts are being penned by Toru Hosokawa. The character of man is being voiced by Kamikawa and the character of landlady is being voiced by Naoko Watanabe.
The manga is inspired by the real life experience of Yabe’s which he faced with his landlady.
In 2016 the manga was in succession in the Shinchosha’s Shōsetsu Shinchō novel magazine. Within the time of three months the book vended 200,000 copies. In April 2018 the subsequent consecutive work named Oya-san to Boku Korekara was commenced in the Weekly Shinchō magazine. In August 2018 the manga was paused because of the death of Yabe’s elderly landlady which is the main subject of the manga. In November 2018 the manga was once again started.
In print format both the two manga have a combined 1.2 million copies.
In January 2018 an anime short was made based by the manga and in April 2018 it was awarded with the short work prize at the 22nd Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize awards.
