Gohan, son of Goku, was at one time considered to be the most promising combatant on the series. Gohan’s potential allowed him to rapidly develop as a fighter, and by the time he reached his early adolescence, he had already achieved his Super Saiyan form. Furthermore, he unlocked Super Saiyan 2 initially, a form that Goku and Vegeta couldn’t reach until the Buu Saga thanks to their less-than-intense training and lack of rage.
But, Gohan wasn’t always as powerful as his older brothers because he didn’t practice as hard as Goku or Vegeta. Even yet, the Supreme Kai let him to access what is now known as Ultimate Gohan, making him the strongest non-fusion character in Dragon Ball Z. He was so potent that even Super Buu couldn’t hold a candle to him.
As a result of prioritizing his responsibilities as a father and provider, Gohan had regressed by the time Dragon Ball Super began. Frieza
Ultimate Gohan went up against Golden Frieza at the Tournament of Power. Frieza had convinced Frost of Universe 6 that he had betrayed Universe 7, so he had to fight Ultimate Gohan. At first, it seemed like Golden Frieza had the upper hand in their fight, but it turned out that both fighters were just pretending to be serious. Even though Frieza’s ultimate form is about as strong as Super Saiyan Blue Goku, it is still possible that Golden Frieza is stronger than Gohan in his Potential Unleashed state. Since Gohan Beast is much stronger than Ultimate Gohan, Gohan should have no trouble beating Golden Frieza when he is in his Beast form.
Vegeta
We have no idea how much Gohan has improved since the last time he fought Vegeta, which was when he was still a youngster. But, we do know that Vegeta is at least as strong as Goku, as Akira Toriyama insists that they be on equal footing or that Vegeta eventually catch up to Goku. Even though Gohan lost the fight, his Potential Unleashed form allowed him to absorb the entire force of Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken x20.
Because Goku’s SSB KK x20 is roughly as powerful as Vegeta’s SSB Blue Evolved, we know that Gohan Beast is more powerful than Vegeta’s most advanced SSB evolution. Even after Vegeta had achieved SSB Evolved, it was unclear in Super Hero if Goku and Vegeta would have been able to fight Cell Max. The hitch is that Vegeta had already unlocked Ultra Ego, his equivalent of Ultra Instinct, in the manga. If this is the case, then Gohan Beast is roughly on par with Vegeta’s Ultra Ego in terms of strength, if not slightly stronger.
Goku
Just Because Goku had not yet mastered Ultra Instinct, both Gohan and Piccolo were doubtful that he and Vegeta could have beaten Cell Max. Even if he did manage to unlock it at the Tournament of Power, he still wasn’t able to use it whenever he pleased. Gohan and Piccolo may have been talking about Goku’s Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken x20 when they indicated that they didn’t think he was strong enough to defeat Cell Max. Because of his easy victory over Cell Max, Gohan must be stronger than Goku’s SSB KK x20.
However, Goku learned to control his Ultra Instinct during the Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga in the manga. As Gohan Beast is so much more powerful than his SSB KK x20 version, it’s plausible that it’s on par with MUI Goku.
Broly
In the animated series, Broly is the most recent foe Goku and Vegeta have encountered. In the Broly film, not even Goku or Vegeta in their Super Saiyan Blue forms were able to harm the Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. This resulted in their merging into Gogeta, who proved superior to both Super Saiyan Broly and Full Power Super Saiyan Broly.
Since that neither Goku nor Vegeta could even come close to matching his power, this could indicate that Broly, in his Legendary Super Saiyan form, could prove to be just as formidable as Cell Max. In the same way that Full Power Super Saiyan Broly was able to compete with Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta for a period, Gohan Beast is either weaker than or on par with Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta. And it’s plausible that Gohan Beast is roughly as powerful as SSB Gogeta, if not more so.
Final Thoughts
During the time that Goku and Vegeta were away, Cell Max demonstrated that he was the most powerful fighter on Earth, but Gohan Beast was more than capable of taking him on.
