The plot centres on Kaneda, the head of a motorcycle gang, and his mentally ill companion and fellow member Tetsuo in a city that is battling to curb crime in the face of political corruption.

Tetsuo has a similar condition after almost colliding with an Esper who resembles a young child and is the result of government research to give people strong psychokinetic powers

The 2016 Japanese movie Shin Godzilla is a remake of the Toho-produced, Ishiro Honda classic Godzilla movies. It happens after a lizard-sized creature rises from Tokyo Bay’s depths and causes havoc in Japan.

The sudden apparition of a massive monster that changes anytime it is attacked is dealt with by politicians in the movie as they battle bureaucratic red tape. The Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line is flooded and the Japan Coast Guard’s boat is wrecked while they investigate an abandoned yacht in Tokyo Bay. Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Rando Yaguchi speculates that the occurrence was brought on by a live thing after viewing a viral video of it.
