Blue Exorcist Chapter 117– Review

Chapter 117 of Blue Exorcist ending was somewhat predictable as we all know the destiny of these characters. But still it shocked us. The chapter starts with Shiro in control of satan and how he evolved to love humans. Although as Yuri mentioned, there some of his actions are still inhuman and he is still a monster. As a result of what Yuri did, satan lost control of Shiro’s body and left but exorcist can’t let things like this repeat in the future and therefore, Yuri is to be punished for having Satan’s kids and the boys will be guarded by the committee to make sure that their powers are in control

As Shiro is a an exorcist himself he can’t let go Yuri and go against the group by threatning them and left. Grigori — the old woman who wanted all this to happened — claimed that the other exorcists do not have to chase them as Yuri will die anyway.

After that we see Shiro taking Yuri to a hidden place that he created from uninhibited tower. Although she was sick, she still gives names to both kids, Rin and Yukio and hold them in her arms for a long while. Grigori’s prediction turn out to be right and Yuri is extremely exhausted as she struggles to walk on the snowy landscape and dies while wishing for Shiro being the father of her children. Shiro’s mourning ended as soon as Yeti strikes him. While lying on the bed of snow he wonders he was a bigger monster than all those he encountered. How will Shiro survive this and what made him realize that he is the father of these kids.

Blue Exorcist Chapter 117– Review

We knew that the mother of Rin and Yukio will die but it still felt an intense and emotional moment. She couldn’t spend much time with her but loved them and give them the names in the time she had with them. Although she lived as a mother for a very few hours but she is indeed a great mother.

Satan possessed a human body but that doesn’t justify that his actions are human. In the same way Shiro thought himself to be a monster as he couldn’t protect Yuri. Blue Exorcist has told the stories of monsters and their hunters but this chapter was about the fact that a monster doesn’t necessarily look like a creature with red horns, it’s the actions of a person that makes a person a monster.
