Anime Where Main Character is Lonely – Anime with Lonely MC

Not typically associated with the romance genre are the terms antisocial and lonely. But some anime show reserved individuals that don’t especially enjoy being around other people. The characters in the following anime have trouble finding and retaining friends, so when they do find love, it usually is more meaningful and special. Let’s have a look on the list.

Anime Where Main Character is Lonely

Welcome to N.H.K

Welcome to N.H.K

A person with social and psychological problems is depicted here who is confined to the bedroom of his apartment and believes that everyone is compelled to be antisocial by the NHK, an evil organization. But then a popular female shows in and essentially smacks him, saying, “Welcome to the real world, bro.” There isn’t a malicious organization here.

The typical plot of Welcome to NHK involves the popular girl rescuing the unpopular lad from his social predicament, but this time there is a psychological component as well. Don’t worry too much about the fact that I described our main character as a lunatic because you’re going to fall in love with him nonetheless.

The Great Passage

The Great Passage

Teenagers and their romances are getting old. Although this doesn’t follow the typical high school, antisocial student plot, it does a much better job of illustrating its concepts than any other anime on this list. Here, one employee of the dictionary editorial division makes the decision to resign.

Even so, he needs to give his project to a fresh individual, and the antisocial Mitsuya Majime fits the bill the best. Now that he is forced to work in an extrovert-dominated environment, our antisocial guy must gradually learn how to fit in. He doesn’t engage in the typical high school antics, and the narrative is more leisurely and slow-paced, so if you’re not into that, this isn’t the book for you.

Aoi Hana

Aoi Hana

First of all, this is a Yuri story, so move on to the next if that’s not your thing. Do you remain here? I should probably let you know that you’re going to watch one of the greatest romance anime ever made. Seriously, the issues of first love and self-identity are handled pretty nicely in this, and each character is depicted realistically.

Here, we have Fumi Manjoume and Akira Okudaira, two females. They were childhood friends who drifted apart, but when they were reunited they discovered their friendship had been shattered. In addition to what we already have, Fumi is the target of another well-liked senior.

Hi Score Girl

Hi Score Girl

Nowadays, there are sports competitors, professional gaming competitions, and multiplayer games, and if you identify as a gamer, everyone respects you—except your parents. High School Girl takes place in a time when this was unheard of.

When you used to mention you played video games, people would probably point to the nearby trash can and tell you that collecting trash is a better job. But Haruo Yaguchi, our protagonist, aspires to a career as a professional gamer.

Tomozaki Kun

Tomozaki Kun

This anime was published last year, and if you missed it, it’s understandable given the volume of anime that year. This is another another anime about gaming, but I swear this is the last. This time, both our popular girl and our socially awkward male are gamer, so everything should be OK, right?

As it turns out, our girl detests antisocial jerks. As a result, she chooses to cheer up our lad a little, and you know what happens when our two start cooperating. Although I haven’t read the light novel, the series also tries to focus on those who are close to our main character.

Fruits of Grisaia

Fruits of Grisaia

Chad, a guy of this anime is antisocial. He could care less about his surroundings. Kazami doesn’t pay attention to girls that wander into his room. He grabs her arm and instructs her to mind her own business if she tries to stab him with a razor blade. This guy is also a juvenile soldier and a spy.

Although the first season of the anime focuses on his relationships with each lady in the dorms he stays in, his history is quite gloomy. As I already stated, play the visual novel if you want to fully enjoy Fruits of Grisaia.

Just Because

Just Because

There are many characters in Just Because, so even if you don’t like the main character, you may easily stick with another one. This anime also has a cynical main character with a terrible background.

The story centers on a young man who returns to his former high school to finish his third year but brings up some unpleasant memories for all of his pals. The absence of the typical romance tropes in this show is a plus. Watching this one will be quite reviving after viewing those overused romance clichés.

3D Kanojo

3D Kanojo

I don’t think I need to reiterate the plot since it revolves around a popular girl falling in love with the otaku who wears glasses, so let me instead focus on the positives. The majority of romantic anime fall short of giving us the ideal coupling. Not another Mary Sue or Gary Stu, but rather a girl and a male who truly bond because they share a trait.

Although 3D Kanojo doesn’t really contribute anything new to the romance anime genre, its romance is compelling enough to keep you watching the entire episode since it feels more authentic than many other romance anime pairings.

Horimiya

Horimiya

One of the best romance anime to come out last year is Horimiya. Well, it’s among the best romance anime ever to be released not the best. We have the main couple getting together in the third episode rather than love confessions across the entire season.

We should be concentrating on real relationship problems like long-distance relationships, envy, family concerns, and other things rather than how to confess. It will be refreshing if you’ve watched a lot of romantic anime, and the readers of light novels claim that this season isn’t even the best one yet.

MY Dress-Up Darling

My Dress-Up Darling

My Dress-Up Darling is one of the bet anime i have ever seen. With the exception of Makima, who will execute us all in Chainsaw Man. Here we have a boy who enjoys dressing up dolls and who sits in the back of the classroom contemplating his existence.

Up until Marin Kitagawa, the cheeriest student in the entire school and the exact opposite of our antisocial introvert. She will compel our boy to sew some adorable clothes since she wants to cosplay, no matter what.

Final Thoughts

Having to live alone is difficult. To maintain yourself, you must persevere and maintain mental fortitude. Although many people identify as introverts, it can be challenging and confusing to remain that way for most of your life. In this blog post we explored anime where MC is lonely!
