There were some rumors all over the internet about the release of the second season of popular anime from 2019 once season 1 reaches its climax. But unfortunately, the upcoming season of this anime series is still under production and it is nowhere near the end of it so the release date is not going to announced soon. A short video was revealed showcased the visuals from the later parts of the manga to give an idea about what can be expected from the new season.
The season of Vinland Saga is delayed. Although the date was not announced it was expected to be released in early 2021 and now it has been further delayed because of the pandemic. Probably it will be announced to be released late 2021 or early 2022, depending on how long this outbreak will last as delay in the production of the series has been affected by it. The season is also produced by Wit Studio. It is being directed by Shūhei Yabuta and composed by Hiroshi Seko. Whereas character design has been handled by Takahiko Abiru and music is composed by Yutaka Yamada.
Vinland Saga is set in the in 11 century, during the Viking era that also highlights some major historical personalities from that period mixed with fictional stories. It takes inspiration from the well known historic wars like Flateyjarbók, the Saga of Eric the Red and The Saga of the Greenlanders. It is the anime adaptation of the manga which has received positive response all over Japan since its first release in 2005. So far 23 volumes have been released and the series is close to the climax.
The manga reading community has claimed it to be one of the best manga to be made. It has been known to be among the best classic popular manga that rarely gets to receive anime adaptation but fortunately, Vinland Saga was adapted into anime series by Wit Studio with Shuhei Yabuta, being the director. The first season covered the early part of the manga in 24 episodes. It started airing from 7th July 2019. The anime was pretty impressive and was faithful to its source material with remarkable animation.
It gained immense popularity because of its compelling and eye-catching animation. IGN has included this anime in the list of the best anime series of the past decade. It also won many awards including, Best Sceneries and Visuals, Best Action & Adventure Anime and Anime of the Year in Anime Trending Awards 2020.
