A New Controversy Arises, This time with Kaguya-Sama!

A New Controversy Arises, This time with Kaguya-Sama!

Among so many controversies in the world of anime, Kaguya-sama: Love is War featured a blunder in the English dub. The latest episode of Love is War was filled with some unavoidable translation blunders with the word ‘Social Distancing’ being the most strange one that came up during the conversations among the characters. It didn’t stop there, and continued with the explanation of maintaining social distance among people.

This strange translation blunder was discussed on Twitter by the fans who are not happy with it as the dubs are different from the actual dialogue. What made it more controversial is the fact that the sensitive topic like COVID-19 is something that should not be discussed in a globally hit anime series like Love is War.

Aniplex has the license acquisition of the anime and it is being streamed on Funimation so it is hard to say whether or not there was an influential cause behind selection of such terms. What do you think about these blunders?
