GKIDS has claimed to acquire the rights for the distribution of animated feature ON-GAKU: OUR SOUND in North America. The film, which is the adaptation of manga by Hiroyuki Ohashi has been directed by Kenji Iwaisawa.
It took seven years in the production of ON-GAKU: OUR SOUND as it consist of 40,000 frames that has been manually drawn with the help of rotoscoping animation method.
The film has received the Nelvana Grand Prize from Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2019 and has also been chosen for Contrechamp Competition section Annecy International Animation Film Festival scheduled to take place this year. The film will be released in 2020 by GKIDS.
