Originally debuting on Wani Books’ Comic Gum website in December 2016, “Plus-Sized Elf” quickly became a fan favorite, leading to the publication of its seventh volume in October 2020. Following a brief half-year hiatus to shift publishers, the manga resumed under Akita Shoten’s wing in the Dokodemo Young Champion magazine in October 2021. The series concluded shortly after, with the publication of its eighth new volume in November 2021. In a move to delight old and new fans alike, Akita Shoten began reissuing the original seven volumes with fresh cover designs starting in June 2022.

Seven Seas Entertainment, dedicated to bringing top-notch manga to English-speaking audiences, offers this summary of the enchanting storyline:

“Naoe-kun, a dedicated massage therapist, is wrapping up for the day when he encounters an enigmatic patient. With her emerald eyes, pointed ears, and forest upbringing, she’s the spitting image of an elf―except for her voluptuous figure. Having indulged in the earthly delight of junk food upon leaving her realm, she finds herself in need of Naoe-kun’s expertise to shed the extra weight. Join this lovable elf in her quest for a healthier lifestyle, with Naoe-kun guiding her every step of the way.”

The plot thickens with the introduction of “Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping” (Shin Plus-Sized Elf) by Synecdoche, dubbed the “second season” of the original manga. This continuation of the whimsical tale made its debut on LINE Manga in November 2021, and Akita Shoten is poised to delight fans with the release of the third compiled volume on January 26. Seven Seas ensures that the English-speaking audience won’t miss out, with translations already in the works.
