1st Full 3D CG Anime Short of Cheburashka Character

On Wednesday the authorized Japanese website for the character Cheburashka started to telecast a new 3D CG anime short named Cheburashka -Tomodachi Mitsuketa. This short is the primary complete CG anime of the franchise. In the anime Rie Kugimiya is the voice over artist of the character Cheburashka while Takahiro Sakurai is the voice over artist of character Gena.

This short is the primary part of a larger project to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Japanese theatrical movie inspired by the character.

The short is produced by ZENTOY and Yayoi Nagano. The short is directed and scripted by Yu Nagasaki, in which Takeshi Imazu, Toshimasa Narita, and Satomi Ichiyanagi have animated. For the original scenario idea Chika Hoshiyama is ascribed. The music has been composed by Tetsuji Ōno and Ryūta Suzuki. The sound was supervised by Nobuyuki Abe, Shunpei Takeuchi, and Chinatsu Horiba and the sound effects were handled by Junichiro Suzuki. For planning and marketing Shinsuke Nakamura and Mie Ikeda are ascribed.

The late Russian author Eduard Uspensky had formed the character Cheburashka. The Roman Khachanov’s four stop-motion animated movies, 2009 television anime Cheburashka Arere? by GoHands, and the 2010 theatrical movie was made based by the character. In the 2014 short Cheburashka Dōbutsuen e Iku Makoto Nakamura also worked. On August 14, 2018 Eduard Uspensky died.
