Death of Narumi
Although it was later revealed that he survived, Narumi’s death was still shocking at that moment. When Masuru was captured by the kidnapper’s, Narumi, Shirogane and Ashihana were surrounded by flames after beating all the kidnappers. Ashihana and Shirogane found their way out but Narumi stayed with Masuru and protect him from a falling ceiling while assuring him that he won’t let anything bad happen to him. The audience focuses on Narumu’s left arm embracing Masuru. But later reveals that it’s only Narumu’s cut clean arm which is left.
Lucellie’s Emotional Death
Although, there are many battle scenes that are not less emotional including the battle between Shirogane and the Automata, Ming Xia thinking about the fact that she won’t be able to fight without having some of her humanity turned off and the battle scene between Narumi and fake Francine. Among all these intense battles and heart wrenching deaths, Lucellie’s faceoff against Four Pioneers was the best one we had when she defeated Dottore with her words and made him admit that Francine is nothing to him. She died with smile on her face as it destroyed the killer of her husband, Automata.
The Truth behind Drugged Staff in Zophono’s Research Centre
The other emotions filled scene is when the truth behind Zophono’s Research Centre is revealed. Although it was hospital with only three doctors and a nurse, it looked like a normal children hospital but there were not many patients as well. All 20 patients soon became close friends of Narumi. It’s when he came to know about the doctors drugging themselves, he is determined to find the truth. He later realized that he is only familiar with the children at the first stage of the disease but once the disease moves to its second stage, they will die or the worst case scenario is the third stage in which they will end up being a living corpse. When he gets to know the reality of the advancement of the disease, the truth behind the doctors being drugged to keep smiling is revealed.
Sadayoshi Saiga’s Evil Plan
Sadayoshi Saiga is the cruelest person in the series. We came to know his true self when he used his illegal child to ruin the village that has been a big supporter of his family for a very long time. The extent of his cruelty exceeded when is alive as Bin Jin, the creator of Midnight Circus. He capture and abused original Francine, attempted to kill Doll Francine just because she was not up to mark for him, killed Angeline for not loving him back, Made Eleanor his puppet while only caring about Masaru. He was overall a disgusting character.
Doll Francine Smiling At the Baby
Initially Doll Francine seemed to be the biggest villain of the series and everyone wanted her to be defeated as she was the leader of the Midnight circus and the cause Zonopha virus. She had to be destroyed to cure the virus. But when we get to know her closely, we realized that she is just a worn out creature who wants to be destroyed being useless. Angelina and Shouji Saiga took her in when they realized that she is harmless. It was when they were under attack, she took the baby and hid in the well on Angelina’s order. She started to dissolve due to water turning into Aqua Vitae but all she want is the baby to survive for which she sing him a lullaby while smiling at him and making baby smile at her. It was hard not to cry while watching that scene.
That was our pick amongst the top most emotional scenes of Karakuri Circus. Though, the anime was not as detail as the manga was and it missed few characters to show but still it managed to fill the series with joy, anger, horror and all kind of emotions.
